CHURCHYARD IN THE SPRING
Warm welcome to Stephanie Smart
If some of you have been wondering who the strange lady is who has been attending St Mark's since Christmas- it is probably me. My name
is Stephanie Smart and I am on my third year of the Reader Ministry course. I have one son who has just joined The Joseph Whitaker School.
My role as a mum is both a joy and a challenge at times. I am a teacher and Head of Religious Education at the Queen Elizabeth's Church of
England school in Mansfield. I find my work in school to be a real priviledge - being with young people keeps me well grounded as well as
providing me with many opportunites to laugh and smile. My Christian faith allows me to be part of the Chaplaincy team to minister to all
who attend school. This is how I came to know Father George who has been a great support to the school.
When considering a possible placement I was informed that I needed to think of a church that is very different to my usual form of
worship. I attend St Simon and St Judes church in Rainworth but also provide support for St Mary's in Blidworth as we are a United
Benefice. I instantly thought of St Mark's. After meeting Father George I knew that my faith had guided me to you. I have been attending
St Mark's since Christmas as I wanted to get to know you all as well embracing the style of worship.
You have made me feel very welcome. The words of encouragement have been particularly affirming. I have thoroughly enjoyed my
experience, that is due to your warmth and nurture. Thank you for taking the time to chat with me.
