MANSFIELD ST LAWRENCE &
MANSFIELD ST MARK
PARISH QUIET DAY
ST CHAD’S CHURCH, PLEASLEY VALE
SATURDAY 13 MARCH 2010

Father George will be leading the day again this year and taking a theme based on the Psalms. We are returning to St Chad’s and we look forward to the day in this delightful little church situated in a green and peaceful valley. Maybe the snowdrops will still be out.

There is a list at the back of church, please sign up by 7 March if you wish to come or CONTACT US.

The practical arrangements are as follows:

1. Arrive at St Chad’s at 10.00am for coffee and a 10.30am start.

2. Parking at the church is limited so try to share lifts if possible.

3. The church is not accessible from Pleasley. The best way to get there is:

From Debdale Lane towards Mansfield Woodhouse, take a left turn at the traffic lights into Station Street. Take the left turn into Vale Road. Follow straight on, through the houses and under the railway bridge. Continue for a further 1mile on the country lane (beware of the speed bumps), take the right fork in the road and turn right at the signpost to the church. Park where you can on the side of the road. It is narrow but there is not much through traffic.

4. The day will include worship, instruction and time for silent reading and reflection. There will be a chance to talk to each other over lunch. Please bring a Bible and notebook.

5. There will be time to walk by the river or read during the lunch break and afternoon.

6. There will be coffee and biscuits on arrival, a hot drink at lunchtime and tea and cake before we leave.

7. Please bring a contribution for a shared finger buffet lunch. If everyone brings enough for themselves then we shall have plenty. It would be helpful if you could bring something savoury (eg sandwiches, savoury rolls) and something sweet (eg cake/fruit). Let’s keep it small and simple - nothing that needs cutlery for serving or eating.

8. The day will end around 3.30pm with tea and cake.

9. The church is well heated but there are wooden pews. You may wish to bring a garden chair, cushion and/or travel rug to make yourself comfortable.

10. The cost for the day will be £3 to cover hire of facilities and hot drinks.

We look forward to seeing you on the day.
