An easy way to get the latest website updates onto your computer
This
will only work if your browser is Internet Explorer 7 (a free automatic
download from Microsoft if you run Windows XP), or another browser which
supports RSS feeds, or if you have downloaded your own RSS reader or
aggregator. (For more information, see the Church of England RSS page:
CLICK)
If
you run Internet Explorer 7, you do not have to know any of the above!
This is how you get St. Mark's RSS feed onto your computer. It really is
not as complicated as it looks and it only has to be done once. You will
then be informed, at the click of a mouse, when St. Mark's website has
been updated and with what. Here goes:
Above most pages on this website, on the toolbar top right, you should see that a symbol between an
icon of a house and a printer has turned orange
.
This indicates that the page contains an RSS feed.
Two options:
EITHER running the mouse over the
orange symbol on the toolbar
should bring up the option of viewing the feed.
The feed shows the latest additions to this
website. Click on the links to the website to find out more.
There should also be an option to SUBSCRIBE
TO THIS FEED. Click on this to subscribe.
To find the feed in future, click on the
star on the left of the toolbar (normally used for FAVOURITES). Between
FAVOURITES and HISTORY it should say FEEDS where St. Mark’s and any
other feeds you have subscribed to are listed.
Run your mouse to the right of the name and
click on the round arrows to update (refresh). If the name of the feed
(St. Mark's Christian Church, Mansfield) goes in bold type, the feed has
been updated since you last looked at it. Click on the name to see the
update; click on the name of the update to go to the website for more
details.
