This is a very personal question to
which there is not just one correct answer! Christians choose
different styles of worship according to their tastes but it is
likely that, in their own words, their answers would cover the
same points.
Some may simply say that it is the only time of the
week they can get away from the people around them for some
peace, perhaps to reflect. Others may admit their weaknesses and
see worship as a time to say sorry to God, to seek guidance and
to recharge their spiritual batteries amongst people of a like
mind.
At St. Mark's, people like the way the service just flows,
aided by the high quality music and the ritual supported by the
serving team. The sermons tend to be thought provoking and
spiritually uplifting . . . and not a time for dozing! The high
Anglican Catholic tradition lays great emphasis on the
sacraments (each person taking the bread and wine as the body
and blood of Jesus Christ).
A friendly atmosphere supportive of
all is an important aim of the St. Mark's family. We definitely
do not know all the answers, but we strive to strengthen our
faith and leave our concerns with God, trying to get our heads
round the fact that Jesus died on the cross so that OUR
wrongdoing may be forgiven. If you do not worship at St. Mark's,
why not give it a try?
If you have views on "Why worship God at St. Mark's?" (or any other Christian place of worship) we would
like to hear them, even if you wish to tell us why you do NOT go to church to worship.
